As Stoke fans disgraced themselves and were met with widespread media derision for booing Aaron Ramsey as he entered their match against Arsenal as a second half substitute in Sunday’s Barclay’s Premier League game, Tony Pulis has come out today to say that he can have no effect whatsoever over the actions of the Stoke fans.  He said

Irrespective of what I say or what Arsene says, you can’t affect what people do.

As I’ve said, if I can’t affect it, I don’t worry about it and I personally don’t think I can affect it.

Have you tried Tony, have you even bothered to try? Of course you haven’t because you don’t believe your club and your fans have done anything wrong. Even Manchester United (eventually) made a call to their supporters to stop *that* chant. They at least (finally) tried to do something.

He continued

That’s got to be other people doing that not me and that’s go to be something that happens outside my sphere.

You can say and I’ve said before. That’s gone. We’ve moved on.

Are those sentences even English? Did Sky Sports use Google translate to translate them in to English from Neanderthal? It’s nice for you to just move on Tony, unlike Ramsey who will be left with memories of that day for the rest of his career.

Fans listen to their manage Pulis. Maybe not all, but most. If you made a call for the boos to stop then the majority of them would stop. If you pointed out the disgust that fans from other clubs, not just Arsenal, felt at hearing a young man being booed because he had dared to be upset at having his leg shattered by your captain, then many of them would think twice about their actions next time.

You say nothing, not because you don’t think you have no influence, but because you do not want to. It is as simple as that.
